ATTN: Many Phishing Email and Text Scams Going Around
Dear Connecting Point & IV Net Clients,
This past week many of our clients have been reporting suspicious emails asking them to perform a change to their account.
These emails appear to have originated from I.V. Net Admin. This is an email phishing scam designed to gather information from the email recipient.
This scam DID NOT originate from I.V. Net’s servers but from an unknown source. As a rule of thumb, no one should ever ask for your password or sensitive information through an email.
Here is a sample of what some of you are receiving below
THIS IS A SCAM, DO NOT RESPOND
From: IVnet Mail Admin [mailto:] (check here for unusual email addresses)
Dear IVNET E-mail User,
As you've used your email address in the last 90 days, we need to let you know about some changes we're making. We're closing some of our older email services. That means your IVNET email account will stop working after 20th DEC, 2018 unless you switch to IVNET Email OATH. If you don't, you'll lose your email account as well as the folders and messages associated with it.
IVNET and MICROSOFT, in collaboration with GOOGLE, have joined forces to create an Oath, by introducing an Internet Fortress for your IVNET mailbox protection and upgrading the IVNET E-mail database and policy.
Recently an E-mail virus (E-virus) was posted on the Internet, to encrypts important information from IVNET email accounts without the knowledge and permission of the IVNET e-mail owners. We recommend that you review your IVNET email account information to help verify and update your email account against this Virus. As part of this cooperation, we want all IVNET e-mail users and Microsoft Internet users to review their email Account Information.
What You Can Look Forward To:
IVNET Mail Admin.
