Windows 7 End of Life Preparation
Windows 7 will be ending January 14, 2020. This means no security updates or support for PC's running it after that date. We recommend that you start making plans to upgrade your operating systems now. Planning this upgrade is important to start now to assess software compatibility, server compatibility, and financial budgeting. You also need to consider giving your business and staff time to learn the new operating system Windows 10.
- Prepare an inventory of machines that need replacement or upgrade
- Very old systems will most likely have to be replaced
- Review software on current machines to ensure they are Windows 10 compatible
- Plan an upgrade timeline with employees to allow data transfers and reinstallations
- Plan a training timeframe for employees
Windows Life Cycle
Unlike upgrading from Windows XP, this upgrade will help to make future upgrades. Once on Windows 10, updates and fixes will be a smoother transition as the new policy model Windows as a Service (WaaS) incorporates continuous updates. Even if Windows 10 looks completely different in the future, the behind the scenes update won’t cause as much change as the past migrations.

Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Small Business Server 2011 and Exchange 2010 will no longer receive security updates on the 14th.
Windows SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 will also be the end of life on July 9, 2019.
This poses an even larger scale plan to migrate your current infrastructure and applications to keep your business protected.
These are large-scale projects that require planning, budgeting, purchasing, implementation, and testing. Starting now will allow our staff and your company to get everything upgraded in a timely fashion.
