System 3 setupIn 1966, James F. Cahill & Company modernized its accounting operations by implementing a state-of-the-art computer service bureau, providing clients with a full range of computerized accounting services. Ronald Borelli played a key role in bringing the firm into the computer age by helping install an IBM System/3, along with card punch machines and sorting equipment that significantly enhanced the company's processing capabilities.

In April 1981, Ronald Borelli and Donald (Steve) Brust formed R/D Computer Sales & Services, Ltd. and merged operations with James F. Cahill & Company. This strategic move was driven by the growing demand throughout the Illinois Valley for quality sales, support, and service of microcomputers and minicomputers. As businesses increasingly recognized that many tasks previously outsourced to computer service bureaus could be completed more efficiently and cost-effectively in-house, the rapidly declining cost of computer technology accelerated the adoption of personal computing. Rather than simply processing work for clients, the company embraced a new role—helping customers successfully implement and utilize their own computer systems. Throughout this transition, the company's commitment to providing innovative solutions and exceptional service remained unchanged.

The launch of Computer Revolution in 1982 marked a significant milestone in the company's evolution. It represented a commitment to serving personal computer users, home offices, and small businesses throughout the Illinois Valley. The opening of a retail storefront allowed the company to provide both hardware and technical services directly to consumers and businesses. While the company name would change over the years, its dedication to delivering solutions and outstanding customer service never wavered.

In 1985, the company became a CBM Computer franchise, enabling it to offer customers the benefits of working with an authorized dealer for leading computer manufacturers, including IBM and Compaq. This affiliation strengthened the company's ability to provide quality products, support, and expertise.

In July 1990, the company joined the Connecting Point Computer Centers franchise network. This partnership provided access to a broader selection of products, improved product availability, and the resources of the nation's largest computer franchise organization. As the 350th Connecting Point Computer Center location in the country, the company gained valuable advantages that enhanced its ability to serve customers while continuing its tradition of delivering dependable technology solutions and exceptional service.

In 2026, Connecting Point Computer Center proudly celebrates 60 years of serving businesses and organizations throughout North Central Illinois.
